Never Believe THE BOOK | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
So many dealers always say "well it books for such and such". Collector books are for the most part written by people who have a huge investment in the items they are writting about. The two most important factors in determining what an item is worth is condition and popularity. The better the shape the highler the value, and the more people want an item the wore competition there is for it. So, there are cases where a 15 year old transformer robot is worth more than a 200 year old vase. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Always hagle the price | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The basic motto is "it never hurts to try". Most dealers put an idiot price on there | goods, hoping a novice collector will come by. You can always asume at least 10 percent off a sticker price, and if you can play the waiting game up to 20 percent off slow moving pieces, an antique store is just like any other, it needs the space to turn over merchandise as rapidly as possible. I will add some more pages on christmas items and some great deals that I find. Until then happy hunting.
